When You Start To Soar, Be Careful Not To Crash.

It’s been an incredible few weeks of change for this girl.  Not so much with my weight, it’s been a steady 2-4lb loss per week but it’s amazing how much a change in your eating habits and exercise can push you forward in the rest of your life but make sure  you check in with your body once and a while.  Mine has made it very clear I need to slow down.

I’ve been back at work for just over a month and things got busy right away.   Summer in radio land is full of fun events to plan and attend on top of the regular 3:30am wake-up and show responsibilities.  Quite honestly I’ve been loving it and the time off renewed my love of my job and gave me time to think of new ways I could develop myself and find fulfillment in a world without booze and lots of food.   In my last post I mentioned my new podcast The Quick And The Dirty  with my friend Sandra who lives in Ottawa.  It’s been amazing to work with her so far and explore a new type of radio for me and more focused on the things you love to talk about with your girlfriends rather than broader appeal.  As much as it’s been amazing its also taken a lot of effort and time to get into the groove setting up our web presence.  We’ve had some amazing guests so far our lates two were a real private investigator/Charlie’s Angel from Private Eye Ottawa and a women who after having 4 children of her own decided she would be a surrogate to a completely unknown couple.


On top of the podcast fun, I’m feeling more mobile now that I’ve recovered from surgery and wanting to experience life and travel.  Which means a lot of rushing around to get things done so my guy and I could finally get away and enjoy some time together.  This included prepping a singing gig with my big band the night before we left and several 20hr days.  I may have done it but I paid for it.  Luckily I didn’t pay until after our trip.  I will say this though, if you are planning a trip post surgery I highly recommend renting a condo through VRBO or AirBnB as it made taking care of my dietary needs so much easier.  We were in Cleveland for a concert/baseball game/Rock & Roll Hall of Fame long weekend and being able to make my own breakfasts and lunches and then having careful dinners out was easy and also saved us some cash on wasted large meals. Plus having a home base bathroom in case my tummy went awry was reassuring. Also, baseball games are much more fun when you are smaller and less crowded in the seats.


Once we returned home it was right into packing and purchasing mode for the boyfriends new house.  Needless to say it’s been a crazy month and I didn’t realize it was taking a toll on my health until I woke up one day aching in my shoulder and wrists in a way I hadn’t felt in over a year.  Damnit, I have pushed myself too hard and the autoimmune arthritis is back. After a complete crying meltdown, I slept for 14 hrs and have been a lot better about taking things slow and trying to relax.  The aches have eased and things are going better now but I can’t believe I let this happen.  It’s all fun and games until you go too far which is entirely frustrating but It’s also reality
